Four Components of Health
Today’s post will be a rather short one. I will outline a very broad, but nonetheless insightful view of health.
These four components will set the base from which I will be looking at health. As you follow my blog, you will begin to see how a vast majority of what I write about can be traced back to these four components. All of my research has given me vast amounts of knowledge, but I have to put the pieces of the puzzle together. The separate pieces of information interact, connect, & work together. A panoramic view will be vital to our understanding of the human body.
Four categories, or components of health exist: Repair (sleep, nutrient utilization, etc.), Energy Assimilation (diet, calories, digestion, nutrition, etc.), Energy Expenditure (metabolism, exercise, etc.) & Damage (injuries, toxins, illness, etc). These comprehensive categories are very broad & overlap slightly, yet they are also distinct entities. Even though they are distinct, you cannot have one without the other. They complement & complete each other. When one component is lacking and/or if the components are not working well together, you have a health problem. When they exist in harmony & balance, you have health.
